MEP: EU doesn’t want Serbia in which those who think differently are attacked

Tanja Fajon, a member to the European Parliament (EP), said on Thursday she was worried by the attacks on people in Serbia who had different opinions or criticised the authorities, Radio Free Europe (RFE) reported.

“That is not Serbia we want in the European Union,” Fajon added. The EP passed a non-binding resolution earlier this month in which it suggested to Belgrade to empower the rule of law, protect the media freedom, promote tolerance, condemn the hate speech and prevent the approval and denial of the genocide and war crimes. “We criticise because we want Serbia all the best,” Fajon said.
