Majority of Serbs convicted in Montenegro for attempted coup left for Serbia

Out of nine Serbs convicted of a plot to dethrone Montenegro’s authorities, only former high-ranking police officer Bratislav Dikic, sentenced to eight years in jail, is in detention after the first instance verdict, while the others, set free pending the appeal, have come to Serbia, the Beta news agency reported.

Besides, one of the Montenegrin opposition leader Andrija Mandic, sentenced to five years of imprisonment, is also in Belgrade, after Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic invited him for talks and sent a government plane to pick him up, according to the Podgorica Vijesti daily. Another Serb, Branka Milic, also accused of a role in the attempted coup and sentenced to three years jail time, is still in Serbia’s embassy in Podgorica where she went
