The EU approved subsidies of 5 billion euros for a chip factory in Germany

The European Commission approved German state aid of five billion euros for the new microchip factory of the European Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (ESMC) in Dresden.

ESMC is a joint venture between Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), Bosch, Infineon and NXP. Support for ESMC, approved under EU state aid rules, will improve European supply, resilience and digital sovereignty in semiconductor technologies. It will also contribute to the digital and green transition, the European Commission announced.
