North Macedonia elects first president since changing name in deal with Greece

Stevo Pendarovski, the candidate of the ruling coalition led by Prime Minister Zoran Zaev won the first presidential election in the country since it changes the name after the deal with Greece and opened the doors to Euro-Atlantic integrations, media reported official results late on Sunday.
Pendarovski, 55, who holds a Ph.D. in the European Union foreign and security policy, won over the nationalist opposition VMRO-DPMNE party’s candidate Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova with 51.85 percent of the votes after 97.67 ballots were counted.
