Serbia one step closer to EU, Hahn says after Belgrade opens two more chapters

The European Commissioner for Enlargement Johannes Hahn said on Monday Serbia had opened two new chapters in its accession talks with the European Union after Belgrade had achieved progress in economic and monetary policies (chapter 17) and statistics (chapter 18), N1 reported.
The progress in the two areas is crucial for further structural reforms and economic growth. “The current growth is good, structural reforms bear fruit, but all that has to continue,” Hahn said, adding Serbia was one step closer to the EU membership. The Commissioner has added that budget transparency, the predictability of the legal system, and final implementation of the reforms will enable a long-lasting growth and new jobs. Hahn said that
