Slovakia’s PM: Kosovo cannot count on EU respect if it jeopardises stability

Peter Pellegrini, Slovakia’s Prime Minister, called on Kosovo on Tuesday to stop raising tensions in the region with an unconstitutional move to create own army, and to respect the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) regarding the 100 percent import tariffs it had imposed on goods from Serbia and Bosnia, the Beta news agency reported.

Pellegrini, who hosted his Serbia’s counterpart Ana Brnabic in Bratislava, added that as a NATO member, Slovakia was against the formation of Kosovo’s army. “Pristina should be sent a clear signal it cannot count on being a respected partner in Europe in the future if it makes move contrary to international law which imperil regional stability,” Pellegrini told a joint news conference with Brnabic.
