EU Council Appoints New Representative for Kosovo and Extends Mandates for Bosnia and Africa Representatives

The Council of the European Union today appointed German diplomat Dirk Schuebel as the new EU Special Representative for Kosovo, and also extended the mandates of the Special Representatives for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Horn of Africa.

Schuebel will assume office on September 1, 2026, and his initial mandate will last for two years, according to the statement from the EU Council. Schuebel is a diplomat with many years of experience in the European External Action Service (EEAS), the European Commission, and the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
