UN: Civilian casualties in Ukraine reach highest level since April 2022

At least 293 civilians were killed and 1,990 were injured in Ukraine in June 2026, the highest monthly casualty count since April 2022, the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine announced today.
This total number of casualties represents a ten percent increase compared to May 2026 (282 deaths and 1,794 injured) and a 37 percent increase compared to June 2025 (249 deaths and 1,416 injured). In the first six months of 2026, the UN recorded 1,396 civilian deaths and 7,978 injuries, which is a 37 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025 and a 114 percent increase compared to the first half of 2024.
