European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos announced that she had decided to cancel her planned visit to Serbia because of what she described as the glorification of Ratko Mladic following his death. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, meanwhile, said he had expected Kos to postpone her visit
"Ratko Mladic was convicted of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. The return of his remains to Belgrade reminds Europe of the darkest pages of our recent history,” Kos wrote on X.
