Prime Minister Đuro Macut today proposed that the Government of Serbia send a proposal to the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, to dissolve the Assembly so that elections could be scheduled for October 25. “For some time now, we have been hearing public demands for the calling of early parliamentary elections.
A responsible government never ignores such demands,” Macut said at the extraordinary session of the Government. According to him, new parliamentary elections are an opportunity to establish the legitimacy of institutions, lower tensions, reject the politics of exclusion, and return political struggle from the streets to the institutions. Until a new Government is elected, he added, the current composition will continue to perform its duties at the same pace,
