Two British one-pound gold coins are now, after exactly eight decades, coming to light and bearing witness that, on St John’s Day 1946, a group of OZNA officers disguised as Chetniks, led by Nikola Kalabić — as the man who left them to the children introduced himself — attempted to capture General Dragoljub Draža Mihailović.
They would succeed less than two months later, while right now marks the 80th anniversary of the killing of the Chetnik commander, whose grave remains unknown to this day.
