In Paris and other French cities, minor incidents occurred at the end of demonstrations held today across the country, sparked by dissatisfaction over the cost of living and overburdened public services, local media reported.
Authorities deployed a large number of security forces to prevent a repeat of the unrest that broke out two weeks ago. Interior Minister Laurent Nunez stated on Friday that about 70,000 police and gendarmerie officers were deployed, according to Paris’ Le Monde.
