Opposition leader’s view of protest draws ruling party reaction

Serbian opposition leader Vuk Jeremic told N1 on Monday that the weekend protests in Belgrade are being organized to topple what he said is an authoritarian regime that is aggressively assaulting its opponents, drawing a fierce reaction from an official of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).
The size of the protests is more than obvious and it’s evident that they are different to earlier protests, the leader of the People’s Party said adding that the greatest thing is the sense of unity among everyone both those involved in politics and those who are not. Jeremic, a former Serbian foreign minister, said that the authorities’“bizarre” calculations about the number of people at the protest makes it clear that they have been shaken up.
