Belgrade city officials lay wreaths on WW II genocide victims

The head of the City Assembly Nikola Nikodijevic and Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic paid tribute to World War II Genocide victims in Belgrade on Friday, the Beta news agency reported.

They laid wreaths at the Monument to those victims, mostly Jews, at the place of a death camp ‘Staro sajmiste,’ the Nazis and their local collaborators built in Belgrade during the occupation. An estimated 32,000 prisoners passed through the camp, which the Germans dubbed Jewish camp in (Belgrade suburb) Zemun (Judenlager Semlin), then a part of Croatia's Nazi puppet state, while some data said that 10,600 of them were killed or died due to
