Switzerland to Finance Inventory in Local Administration Units with EUR5.5 Million

Beta 24.03.2017

The Swiss Office for Cooperation with Serbia has designated 5.5 million euros to finance the inventory of property in 40 local administration units in Serbia in the next four years.

The director of the office, Ursula Laubli, told reporters on March 23 that the inventory that had been performed in nine municipalities in cooperation with the German Organization for Technical Cooperation (GIZ), had been successful and that Switzerland would continue the project by itself.

The main thing is that the inventory does not stop at 40 municipalities and that property in the entire Serbian territory is inventoried. The project has caused a change in the people's awareness of the importance of paying the property tax, Laubli stated.

She added that a novelty in the work of the Office was to pay more attention to where the money from the property tax was invested.

According to figures so far, the invested funds have been returned in one year because they were smaller than the amount collected from the property tax.

For example, in Zajecar, where ten persons performed the inventory and were paid 9,000 euros, 1,700 households were inventoried and ten million dinars more was collected as property tax.
