Transparency Serbia: Corruption widespread, small number of cases reported

The Transparency Serbia NGO’s programme director Nemanja Nenadic said on Thursday that corruption in Serbia was widespread and that only a fraction of cases had been reported to the respective authorities, the Beta news agency reported.

The NGO said it followed 32 suspected corruption cases discovered by journalists, independent organisations, whistle-blowers or other NGOs, as well as the following actions by the police and prosecution, and that out of 16 cases they demanded information whether the procedures started, the prosecutors answered in only one, saying the process was launched.
