1.6 million pensioners in Serbia

The annual statistics of the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund show that from 2008 to the end of 2021, the number of self-employed pensioners doubled from 50,959 to 104,045, while the number of farmers receiving benefits dropped significantly from 222,986 to 150,601.
When it comes to the pensioners of the pension fund of employees, there is a standard growth. From 2008 to 2021, this number increased from 1,306,394 to 1,405,814 of the eldest. When we look at the structure of pension beneficiaries, counting all categories, it is noticeable that the biggest decline was recorded in the number of disability pensioners.
