German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has announced that Germany intends to upgrade its armed forces into the "strongest conventional army in Europe,” promising that "all necessary financial resources” will be provided for this effort.
A 39-page document states that €377 billion will be allocated for the procurement of equipment for Germany’s land, air, naval, space, and cyber forces, reports the Brussels-based portal. The document confirms that the reform and re-equipment of the German military will be "firmly grounded in domestic industry." German companies dominate the identified tenders, with around 160 projects valued at approximately €182 billion, according to Politico.
