European Union restrictions on financing Chinese inverters for solar and wind power plants could slow down or even halt the development of renewable energy projects.
More specifically, they could slow down or even halt the development of renewable energy projects in poorer member states that rely on EU funding, 36 energy companies and investors warned today. In May, the European Commission banned the use of EU funds to purchase the mentioned components from countries considered high-risk, including China, citing security concerns, Reuters reported. China currently supplies around 70 percent of the European inverter market.
