Serbia’s Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said on Sunday that police managed to keep the protest against an employee of a bakery who displayed a two-headed eagle in the Belgrade neighbourhood of Borca peaceful.
Dozens had gathered on Saturday, waving Serbian flags, singing patriotic songs about Kosovo in protest against what they interpret as displaying the symbol of Greater Albania. The minister appealed to the citizens who were protesting to remember that “Belgrade always was and remained a peace-loving and hospitable city.” He said the protest went by without incidents, but also that he has informed prosecutors about it.
