Due to the storm, with hurricane force winds of up to 130 km/h in places, a red alert is in effect in parts of Croatia.
The red alarm applies to Istria, Kvarner and the area around Velebit. The highways between the junction Sveti Rok and Posedarje, as well as the Jadranska magistrala between Karlobag and Saint Maria Magdalena, Maslenica-Zaton Obrovacki and the Omis bypass are closed to all traffic. Numerous ferry and catamaran lines are also suspended. Calming of the storm is expected tomorrow.
