Serbian ruling party MP sued for slander by opposition leaders

Two Serbian opposition leaders have sued an MP from the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) for slander, the Beta news agency reported on Tuesday.

Dragan Djilas, a former Belgrade mayor and now leader of the opposition Alliance for Serbia, sued Marko Parezanovic an MP from the western Serbian town of Cacak over an interview to the Morava Info web portal. In the mid-September interview, Parezanovic claimed that “Djilas offered 50,000 Euros to two local assembly councilors from the ruling majority in the town of Gornji Milanovac if they stopped coming to assembly sessions”.
