Serbians see corruption as deep-rooted and customary, poll shows

The Serbian population does not trust the state bodies which should be fighting corruption and believe it is deep-rooted and customary, a presentation of research into perceptions of corruption was told on Tuesday.
The research was conducted for USAID by the Center for Free Elections and Democracy (CeSID). According to the report, 57 percent of the polled said they see that corruption is wide-spread, mainly in the health care system, judiciary, police and customs service while 23 percent feel that the most wide-spread form of corruption is the employment of friends and family or the use of friends and family to get things done in state institutions.
