Environment Minister says pollution kills thousands in Serbia

Serbian Environment Minister Goran Trivan said on Wednesday his ministry is prepared to help local authorities deal with aerial pollution which kills some 6,500 people in Serbia every year according to World Health Organization (WHO) figures.

Speaking at a meeting with officials from several cities which have pollution problems, Trivan said that the key to solving aerial pollution is at local level, a statement said. He called the officials to apply for reforestation projects but warned that funds won’t be allocated without plans and projects.
