Novi Sad city authorities give up plan to tear down sports center

The city authorities in the northern Serbian city of Novi Sad have abandoned their plan to tear down the SPENS sports center, Mayor Milos Vucevic said on Thursday.
Speaking at a presentation of offers competing for the project to improve the center’s energy efficiency, Vucic said that there is no public support to tear down the building which is one of the recognized landmarks of the city. He said seven local and foreign companies had submitted offers for the energy efficiency project.
